What sort of person is Susan Rees ?

I am 54.  Not originally of fitness background - its incredible I find myself teaching Nia at all. I am now a certified Nia Teacher, teaching for 3 years in Scotland.  Ever felt a clux at a class ?  Ever felt alienated from posing or extreme hard-pushing mentality.  Just want to feel fitter and enjoy it ? This is where I am,  and it would be a privilege if you would allow me to show you how Nia is different in that respect. I don't see myself at a 'fitness teacher' - I am a Nia Teacher - I only teach Nia - because it is the only thing I want to do!  I wanted more Nia and so I trained - simple as that.  It not my 'job', its not just another class I teach - its my passion - when I am not teaching Nia I am usually preparing, doing my personal Nia practice or listening to Nia music!  I now teach 5 classes a week in the triangle formed by Stirling, Dunblane and Perth - simply because I want more people who were turned off by the fitness "industry" obsession with hard-assed grim fitness to boom boom music - to experience the difference that is Nia.

Read my story here.

What is Nia ?  - a 35 year-old worldwide form of movement for fitness and health - adaptable for all kinds of personal goals, age and fitness levels.  Each Nia Teacher brings their own essence to the form inspired and informed by a worldwide and Scottish community of teachers and trainers.

Why have you never heard of Nia ? - it is not pushed as the next and only thing but rather has grown low-profile through, well really just people loving it.  Investment is instead in constant improvement and teacher training.

What is Special about it ?  - too much to tell you here - but 3 things are

*  its more than a fitness class - there is a community and dip in delights to follow outside the class to allow you to enrich & enhance your health and wellbeing in various ways

* the glorious music

* the delightful yet effective way we move (ideally barefoot, but shoes are an option)

Its time to think about booking a chance to change your life.

*  no previous experience needed

*  any age or ability

*  you don't have to be able to dance

*  you do have to love music

*  you can even do it if you have never done a Nia class at all (believe it or not - some people have done this - they heard about Nia -- took a leap of faith - did the course and never looked back)

*  ...but we'd love you to journey to any of our Scottish classes to try Nia first - and if is possible talk to that teacher after class if you would like.  If so, best to contact the teacher first.  I am certainly happy to do this - and can manage it after most classes (but not all).   I love to share Nia!...

Being super keen on deepening my personal Nia practice I undertook a forth level of Nia development this Summer.   Thrilled again to train with Nia founder Debbie Rosas plus 3 other wondeful international faculty trainers: Winalee Zeeb, Caroline Kohles and Helen Terry.

It was a class of 54 from all over the world but wonderfully managed and very inspiring.

DUE TO BRIDGE REPAIR ROADWORKS making my travel too difficult.....

Myself and Nia Teachers will look at new provision in 2020 - firm plans in the offing for Nia classes for the first time in Dundee and St Andrews. Get in touch to suggest a venue

Look after yourselves - and remember Nia is available in your own home - both in the the 'classic' class format and in the gentler, therapeutic format. Enjoy Nia - first 15 days free, and then REALLY inexpensively at www.niatv.fit -- its just a website - use it on a PC (and on some smart TVs too) or use the app called NIATV on android or apple device.

If you can't make any of those then...
there are other Nia people as well....

There are more Nia classes, for example in Alloa,  Stirling  Cupar and Dunfermline and in many other areas of Scotland as well and the rest of the U.K. and worldwide  - check out the class finder at

I have written a lot lately telling people over 50, 60 and 75 about how Nia can be for them but Nia has just as much appeal if you are just a tad bit younger!   I have enthusiatic class members in their 20s!  Its just that the fact is that high quality classes which we...

This video produced by a U.K. Nia teacher with the kind cooperation of her lovely Nia class includes some great Nia music and a bit of a feel of what a Nia class is like.  There are lots of Nia videos out there, but this one I believe is the closest to the kind of fee...

Nia is a low impact fitness-to-music class, backed by a body-centred health and wellness practice.  Nia is ideally practiced barefoot (although socks or light shoes are an option) and comprises simple-to-master moves, from gentle to energising, and inspiring music from...

Here I am with the 10 other students who have just completed their 2nd level Nia Practice intensive (known as 'Blue Belt').  We completed on 28 July 2016 at Burntisland, Fife.  Yes you can see we really do get blue belts!  Nia has a wonderful martial arts ethos backing...

In my classes I especially emphasise that Nia is for all ages and abilities, sizes and shapes. For those that love to dance and for those with two left feet.  Nia is for any-body!
