A better way

Nia - the workout, practice and lifestyle - originates from the inspirational story of two people searching for a better way, addressing not only the physical body, but also the mind, emotion and spirit. Nia classes help you develop a healthy relationship with your body, in class and in the 'rest' of your life. Nia’s purpose is to help people reach their greatest potential no matter what age or state of health. The only way we can craft the body and life we desire is from the inside out, and by choosing pleasure and comfort as the path to get fit and stay healthy.

Originally Nia stood for Non Impact Aerobics (NIA) - see the picture of the first book above. Much later after 13 years study and refinement Nia became much much more than that, a movement, lifestyle and practice in its own right. Now Nia is just Nia - not an abbreviation - just a name for something great! 26 years more work included refinement and dedication to producing the finest training imaginable and a Nia Training Faculty which travels the world inspiring and changing the lives of those who want to experience and or teach Nia.

This book came out in the 80s and is still the Nia 'bible' with stories of how and why Nia has improved lives and fitness for all different kinds of people at all ages and levels of fitness. It also includes details on the first stage of the Nia Practice and all the Nia foundation moves 'The 52 Moves'. You can buy it from ebay or Amazon, any bookstore or from the Nia website www.nianow.com. You can also find your nearest Nia class anywhere in the world using the class finder on that site. Brilliant!

Nia encourages its teachers to teach 'from themselves' and empowers and encourages them to take what Nia gives in terms of training, education and resources and give it back threefold. I am never bored teaching Nia or taking a class becuase each class is different, authentic and unique. Truely I love every minute.
